2016: Academic scholarship recipients announced!

We are so proud to announce our first annual academic scholarship recipients: Maxwell, Katherine, Darby, Naudia and Autumn. The One Bead scholarship initiative is designed to recognize students who are true catalysts for change in their respective communities. The recipients are driven and passionate individuals who embody all of the leadership traits valued by our organization, and it is our hope that they will serve as role models and mentors to a younger generation of One Bead leaders. 

2015: The Strength Bracelet and Black Label Bracelet launched
In 2015, we released a handful of new products, including our Black Label bracelet, White Label “Strength” bracelet, shirts, necklaces and various new colored beads.

2015: New distribution partners
One Bead unveiled a new wholesale pricing model allowing us to take our first step into the retail world. We are so excited that our jewelry is now on sale in select stores nationwide! We would like to thank the following businesses for supporting our mission: Iconoclast BooksL'Attitude BostonParagraphs Bookstore,  and The Movable Boutique.  

2015: New YLPs completed
Two youth leadership programs have just wrapped up at North Street Elementary in Geneva, NY. One at Mount Vernon Middle School in Mount Vernon, OH.

August 2014: Leadership programing in partnership with Kesho
The One Bead team traveled to Kilifi, Kenya, to collaborate with Kesho, an organization that promotes a holistic approach to education in Kenya, on a four-day leadership program for students. We used elements from our newly developed curriculum to teach entrepreneurial leadership to over forty students ranging from ages 16–20. We were greatly inspired by both the dedicated staff and motivated students.

2014: Pilot youth leadership programs debuted!
Students at Letourneau Elementary and Doran Elementary in Fall River, MA and The Roslindale Boys and Girls Club in Roslindale, MA just completed youth leadership programs. 

2014: Partnership with Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH)
In March 2014, One Bead partnered with the MGH Center for Global Health to create a One Bead fellowship that will allow one woman in Uganda to receive her education in medicine for a year, debt free. On March 25, 2014, MGH recognized the support of One Bead at their Women in Global Health Symposium. We are grateful for this partnership with such an impressive institution. 

2013: Fence Built around the Oloosirkon Government Primary School
One Bead's first project involved raising money to build a 923-meter fence around the Oloosirkon Government Primary School in Nairobi, Kenya. The fence is seven feet high; it keeps children and school supplies safe, and unwanted animals and people out. Read the full story.
