Leadership Programs

The One Bead Youth Leadership Program (YLP) is designed to cultivate young leaders at the elementary school level and instill a culture of giving back to one’s community. The six-week curriculum shares the business

model and inherent leadership qualities of One Bead with the youngest generation of students. During the first half of the program, students are taught important leadership and business skills, such as communication, public speaking, budgeting and research. We are proud to have conducted a dozen YLPs at schools nationwide.

Midway through the curriculum, students are presented with a $1,000 grant. With this grant, Sara challenges them – just as Anselm challenged her – to find a way to make a difference in their community. The second half of the YLP focuses on determining as a group how this grant will be spent on a service project and creating action plans to implement these efforts.

In 2015, over 120 students participated in three One Bead leadership programs. A total of $3,000 in service project funding was awarded and used to impact the local communities where our programs took place. By the end of the programs:

• Over 85% of students agreed that everyone can be a leader;
• Over 75% of students understood how to create a basic budget;

• Over 75% of students agreed that they believed in themselves;
• 100% of students had researched an organization other than One Bead.
